Lakeisha Mathews, Ed.D
Director
Lakeisha leads the career center staff in building bridges between employment and education. She is a certified professional career coach, certified professional resume writer, and certified global career development facilitator. As an educator with 10+ years of experience in higher education, Lakeisha’s experience includes residence life, new student orientation, academic advising and career services. Lakeisha likes to say that she has helped students gain admission into college, remain in college and exit college—with a job! A Baltimore native, Lakeisha currently serves as co-advisor to the National Society of Leadership & Success (NSLS), the largest student group on campus. She also serves on the NSLS National Advisor Advisory Board and the Maryland Career Consortium Directors Board. Lakeisha is a past president of the Maryland Career Development Association and has attained numerous awards and recognition from both national and local organizations. Lakeisha holds a B.A in Communication from the University of Maryland, College Park and a M.S. in Human Resources from Towson University. She is currently pursuing a Ed.D in Higher Education Innovation from Wilmington University. In 2016, Lakeisha co-authored a book for the Association of Training and Development called Find Your Fit.

Helen Pittman
Career Specialist, College of Public Affairs
As a seasoned professional in the higher education field, Helen brings over a decade of experience to the University of Baltimore, where she has been engaged with the College of Public Affairs community. A commitment to learning, accountability, an unwavering determination to succeed, a flair for organization, and consistency have all fueled hercareer as a higher education professional at the University of Baltimore. She has helped prospective students navigate the university's application process and is now eager to assist those students in finding gainful employment. Her identity as a disabled Navy veteran has impacted her resilience and dedication to excellence, along with her academic pursuits. Making a difference in students' lives excites Helen. She has also enjoyed her time teaching UBalt's first-year students. Teaching has been a goal of hers, and the University has allowed her to give back to her alma mater. She has received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s degree in Cyberforensics from the University of Baltimore. She has served on the university’s staff senate executive committee for 2023. Daniel Bowley
Career Manager, College of Arts and Sciences
Daniel Bowley serves as the Career Manager for the College of Arts and Sciences. Daniel is passionate about engaging students and helping them to identify their passions and pursue their career goals. During his college career, Daniel worked primarily with on-campus students to help them acclimate to campus living and facilitate a positive campus community. He is excited to have the opportunity to return to his home state and work withUBalt's students to create a culture of personal and professional growth for the entireUBalt community. Prior to working in career services, Daniel worked as a Graduate Resident Director, Resident Assistant, and Presidential Ambassador across various universities and advocated for student concerns through his roles in student government. He also co-founded a campus a cappella group and continues to hold a deep passion for the arts.

Lana Farley
Associate DirectorLana Farley has worked in the field of career development for over 10 years. As the Associate Director, her main functions include promoting recruitment events, educating area employers on managing interns, as well as providing coaching to students in the areas of self-efficacy and career search strategy. Lana has experience coaching traditional and non-traditional populations, which includes incarcerated, international, and first-generation college students. Lana holds a B.A. in Psychology from Salisbury University, an M.A. in Human Sciences from Hood College and is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Higher Education Administration at Morgan State University. She is MBTI certified and is also a Dependable Strengths facilitator.

La-Toya Gomez, MBA
Career Manager, Merrick School of Business
La-Toya Gomez serves as the Career Manager for the Merrick School of Business. As a native New Yorker, La-Toya brings 7+ years of Career Counseling experience in Higher Education. Whether it's welcoming first-time students to the college world in New Student Orientation, working with Advising helping students find a career path for their major, or congratulating them on all their hard work and accomplishments at graduation, it’s all in a day’s work for her. She loves to help students excel, explore and build on their skills. La-Toya holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Metropolitan College of New York and a Bachelors of Business Administration from Berkeley College. She served as a Board Member for the Berkeley College Alumni, connecting alumni mentors to current students. As a board member of the New York State Career Development Association she was able to assist in putting together virtual conferences to keep career counselors and higher education professionals up to date on changes in the career world. La-Toya mentored many of her students, served as a Faculty Advisor to student clubs, and was chosen for the “Student Centered” award by her peers. She looks forward to bridging the gap between MSB students and their careers, and is excited about the new relationships that will spring forth.

Markeya Nardini
Coordinator for Employer and Community Relations
Markeya Nardini is the new Coordinator for Employer and Community Relations. Prior to joining the UBalt team, Markeya worked in non-profits providing various supports to adults with intellectual disabilities. Markeya holds a B.A in Philosophy from McDaniel College and during her time at McDaniel college served as a peer mentor to first year students. Markeya is excited to help students gain meaningful employment through the JLD program.

The National Student Employment Association (NSEA) is an organization of several hundred professionals involved with programs for college students who work. NSEA is a prime source for current information on federal student employment regulations and expert advice on the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program. |
The Maryland Career Consortium consists of the career center directors and staff of 14 colleges and universities in greater Baltimore region. MCC collectively serves students and alumni through collaborative job fairs, networking events and graduate school symposium. |
